An Apogee Elite system has two lasers - the Alexandrite and the Nd-YAG, that cover a whole range of medical conditions that can be treated.  The Alexandrite Laser is probably the best treatment for hair reduction, especially in Caucasian skins.  The laser light which is of one single wave length is absorbed by the hair follicle that is promptly destroyed by the heat created.  Unfortunately, as only 20-25% of hair follicles are in the growth phase (this is the only phase the follicle can be treated) this is all that can be treated in one treatment.  Hence it is necessary to have 6 - 8 treatments in total to see the final result.
