LASER HAIR REMOVAL

At Parfaire we believe in giving our clients the best results possible, therefore only use the leading equipment in the industry. We use the new Cynosure Elite for all our laser treatments, this is a grade 4 medical laser and not an IPL machine, meaning you get better results more quickly. This system has two lasers in one, making it possible to treat all skin types.

Almost everyone has unwanted hair somewhere on his or her body. Unfortunately, traditional hair removal routines can be tedious, painful and expensive over time. Shaving may last a day, waxing a couple of weeks but none of them last forever – and therein lies the beauty of laser hair removal. Proven to 70 – 80% permanent hair reduction this treatment can be carried out on almost any part of the body.

How does it work?

Laser hair removal using the Alexandrite laser works by the laser beam passing safely through the skin targeting the melanin in the hair, it’s energy is absorbed by the hair follicle and the heat created weakens or destroys the follicle preventing further growth. Our ND Yag laser is suitable for darker skin types, this laser passes through the skin without targeting melanin, it works by directing the beam onto the base of the unwanted hair follicles where it disperses the energy and damages the follicle, reducing the rate at which it grows.

How many treatments will I need?

As only 20 – 25% of hair follicles are in the growth phase (this is the only phase the follicles can be treated) in any one treatment it is necessary to have a course of 6 – 8 treatments to get the full results.

What is the treatment program?

Everybody is different and more importantly has different opinions on what they want from their treatment. To ensure you get exactly what you want without having to pay over the odds for extra areas. All our laser hair removal treatments are personalized to you and are priced during your FREE consultation. During your consultation we also talk through before and aftercare and issue you with a fact sheet, answer any questions you may have and test patch for sensitivity. As long as no reaction occurs treatment can begin from 24 hours after your test patch. During treatment you will feel cold air blowing across the skin, some people may feel a sensation similar to a pinch or gentle ping of an elastic band. After treatment the skin may look red and slightly swollen, this is normal and generally disappears within 24 hours. Time in between treatments varies depending on you hair growth cycle but is usually between 4 -8 weeks.

What is the difference between laser hair removal and IPL?

Many clinics still offer IPL hair removal, but did you know this type of treatment is not as effective for hair removal as medical lasers? Both laser hair removal and IPL works by converting light energy into heat energy to heat up the hair follicle to reduce hair growth. However this is where the similarity ends. Laser is an intensely concentrated beam of light. The energy is extremely focused rather than diffused using a single and precise wavelength that is proven to target hair growth, so there is no ‘hit and miss’. This exact wavelength leads to a more effective treatment than IPL hair removal and therefore fewer treatments in the long term. During you initial consultation we carefully tune the laser to your individual skin and hair type ensuring the best possible results on all skin types.

IPL is far less effective than laser hair removal. The energy from IPL is produced by a lamp (similar to a bulb) therefore using an array of different light wavelengths. Only some of these wavelengths will be ideal for hair removal, but many will not. So while IPL maybe cheaper per session, the IPL results are not as good because a percentage of the treatment will be ineffective.
